While local traditions and cultural values are gradually and slowly withering away in Pakistan, residents of Gilgit Baltistan have kept their so-called ‘Mayfang’ tradition alive. This tradition is linked to celebrating the arrival of new Tibetan year with a warm festivity and fervor. Balti dance and music are in full bloom when special Balti food is cooked at the nights lit with lamps and bonfire, which also help in keeping the cold away. Know more about this tradition in this special Pakistan saga video by Sabookh Syed.
